Late season success in the Southern Tier

MAC Motorsports found late season success this weekend at a new track for driver Mike McCollum.  McCollum drove the #2 358 Modified from his 18th place starting position to a strong 5th place finish in a feature full of cautions.

Thanks to support from a fellow racer and friend, Jim Corcoran, Mike McCollum was able to resurrect his racing program for the end of the season.  Corcoran, owner of Corcoran Motorsports, provided one of  his Wally Feihl powered small blocks to the MAC Motorsports team for racing until the motor is sold.

For a change of pace and venue, McCollum traveled north to the Southern Tier's Woodhull Raceway Big Block/ Small Block Shootout on October 4th.  Starting deep in the heat, McCollum survived several incidents to take the last transfer spot on the last lap.

At feature time, the #2 Modified rolled off 18th and worked in between multiple cautions to gain positions up through the field.  The Corocoran Motorsports engine was strong and McCollum's car was handling well as it navigated the high banks at Woodhull.  After a frustrating and abrupt end to his regular season at Penn Can Speedway due to engine woes, McCollum and his MAC Motorsports team enjoyed his first top 5 of the season.

As the week progresses, McCollum may make back to back appearances at Woodhull depending upon the sale of the Corocoran Motorsports engine.  If you are interested in inquiring about the motor and other equipment for sale from Corcoran Motorsports, please contact Mike McCollum at 570-470-2523 for details and contact information.

See you at the track!
